In the final stop in this season of travel, the Milwaukee Choral Artists will be your guide as you take in a rare trip to hear Igor Stravinsky’s Four Russian Peasant Songs in his arrangement for women’s voices and four horns. Double back to visit Eastern Europe through some of its folk songs. Then, travel west to Asia as MCA offers a set of music about Loss and the Power of the Sea, with music from and about Korea, Japan, and Indonesia. Eliza Gilkyson’s Requiem is a response to the devastating effects of the 2004 Tsunami in the Indian Ocean. Japanese composer Kentaro Sato’s piece MAE-E, with its beautiful, heartfelt text, is dedicated to the victims of the 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.
A pre-concert lecture will take place at 7:00PM.
